From everyday chores to "declutter Tuesday" and "tidy Thursday"

I spent 2022 trying to get myself into a routine to keep our house organised. Mind you, this is without children. Just two adults working full time and a cat.

My schedule looked like this:
Monday: Bedrooms
Tuesday: Bathrooms
Wednesday: Kitchen
Thursday: Living Room
Friday - Sunday: Relax
It was a workable system as long as you kept tidy, as much as possible. I used to set a timer with Siri every morning for 10 minutes and I would do as much as I could in the daily area, before I went to work. The same in the evening, 10 more minutes and it was enough.

The daily area system worked fabulously for me, because I kept my efforts focused. This ensured I will not become distracted or overwhelmed.
In 2023 I work 2 days per week from home and I want to spend my otherwise 2h daily commute in making my home as I want it to be. This is the plan:
Declutter Tuesday:
This is a day to walk around the house and pick up items which are not in their place.
If items do not have a permanent home already, time to create one.
Never walk with empty hands: if you go from one room to another, always pick something up with you.
During my coffee and water breaks, take a moment to look around and identify visual clutter.
Tidy Thursday:
Today is about cleaning!
I will maintain my 10 minutes of daily chores in the morning, but not also in the evening. This should allow me to keep on top of things.
During this day, I will spend the other 50 minutes in the morning and 1 hour in the evening, deep cleaning.
I want to give myself the grace of choosing on the day what I focus on; otherwise I will quickly begin to loathe it. It can be bathrooms, coffee machine, descale the kettle, fridge refresh - those items that require a little more dedication.
There is no minimum effort I impose myself. As long as I do 1-2 areas, but thoroughly, I am happy. This will matter in the long run.
